Job Description

The Business Development Officer will identify, develop, and manage business opportunities that promote the growth and sustainability of agro-processing enterprises led by or benefiting women with disabilities. The officer will work closely with women's saving groups, farmers' groups, ISAVE saving groups, and community-based women's agricultural groups involved in producing maize, groundnuts (G-nuts), millet, soya beans, and sesame (simsim).

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Opportunity Identification – Identify new business opportunities in agro-processing, assess income-generating activities for women with disabilities, and develop business strategies for enterprise growth and financial sustainability.
Market Research & Linkage Development – Conduct market research, build relationships with buyers/traders/retailers/wholesalers/processors, and develop market linkages for agro-processed products.
Product Development, Branding & Quality Assurance – Support branding, labelling, packaging, product presentation, quality improvement, value addition, and product diversification.
Marketing & Sales – Develop marketing campaigns and sales strategies, generate leads, negotiate deals, follow up on sales, and gather customer feedback.
Capacity Building & Mentorship – Help women with disabilities develop practical business skills, sustainable practices, and financial management.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Development – Build relationships with farmers' groups, saving groups, local businesses, and development partners; promote inclusive business partnerships.
Monitoring, Reporting & Performance Management – Track business performance, sales, and market penetration; prepare progress reports and provide feedback on market trends.

Qualifications

Education: Diploma in Business Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Development Studies, Agribusiness, or a related field.
Experience: At least 2 years in business development, preferably in rural development, agriculture, agro-processing, or agribusiness.
Added Advantage:
- Experience with women's economic empowerment initiatives and marginalized groups.
- Knowledge of agricultural value chains, product development, value addition, and market access.
- Experience working with Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), particularly women with disabilities.
