Job Description

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing business opportunities that promote the growth and sustainability of agro-processing enterprises led by or benefiting women with disabilities. The officer will work closely with women's saving groups, farmers' groups, ISAVE saving groups, and community-based women's agricultural groups in Jinja District and City, particularly those engaged in the production of maize, groundnuts (G-nuts), millet, soya beans, and sesame (simsim).

Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Opportunity Identification: Identify and develop new business opportunities in agro-processing and related value chains.
Market Research and Linkage Development: Conduct market research, establish relationships with buyers/traders, and develop market linkages for agro-processed products.
Product Development, Branding, and Quality Assurance: Support the development of attractive product brands, labels, packaging, and improve product quality and value addition.
Marketing and Sales: Support the development and implementation of marketing campaigns and sales strategies; generate business leads.
Capacity Building and Mentorship: Support women with disabilities to develop practical business skills.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Development: Build and maintain productive relationships with farmers' groups, women's saving groups, local businesses, and development partners.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Performance Management: Track business development performance, prepare progress reports, and provide feedback on market trends.

Qualifications

A Diploma in Business Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Development Studies, Agribusiness or a related field.
Relevant experience in business development, preferably within rural development, agriculture, agro-processing, or agribusiness.
Experience working with women's economic empowerment initiatives and marginalized groups.
Knowledge of agricultural value chains, product development, value addition, and market access is an added advantage.
Experience working with Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), particularly women with disabilities, is an added advantage.
The applicant should at least possess 2 years working experience in the related field.
