Job Description

Housing Finance Bank is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Credit Evaluation Officer to join our credit management team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and analyzing credit risks to support sound lending decisions in accordance with the bank's policies and regulatory frameworks.

As a Credit Evaluation Officer, you will conduct rigorous evaluations of loan applications, perform comprehensive financial analyses, and assess the viability of loan proposals. Key Responsibilities

Evaluate and analyze credit applications to assess creditworthiness and determine appropriate credit limits.
Conduct detailed financial statement analysis, including cash flow forecasting and ratio analysis.
Assess collateral adequacy and ensure proper documentation is in place to mitigate credit risk.
Prepare comprehensive credit appraisal reports with clear recommendations for approval or decline.
Ensure compliance with Bank of Uganda regulations, internal credit policies, and underwriting standards.
Collaborate with relationship managers and credit committees to resolve queries and streamline the loan approval process.
Monitor active loan portfolios to detect early warning signs of credit deterioration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Professional certification in Credit Management or Risk Management is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, banking laws, and credit risk guidelines in Uganda.
Excellent analytical, reporting, and decision-making skills.
High level of integrity and professional ethics.
