Job Description

This is a senior executive-level position at a major regional financial institution. The role holder will support the direct line manager in the development, alignment, and review of EADB’s corporate strategy. The primary goal is to ensure the Bank grows its lending, puts capital to productive use, and delivers on its development mandate in every member state. The Director will turn strategy into funded annual plans, track delivery against clear targets, and measure the Bank’s performance and development impact.

We are currently recruiting a Director Strategy and Innovation at East African Development Bank (EADB) based in Kampala, Uganda to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities, work closely with colleagues across departments, and contribute to the continued success of the organisation. This role suits someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Review and Stewardship: Leading the review and alignment of corporate strategy.
Strategy Delivery: Ensuring the strategy is effectively implemented across the organization.
Performance and Impact Measurement: Tracking progress against targets.
Data and Analytics: Building the Bank’s data and analytics capability so that strategy and decisions rest on reliable evidence.

Qualifications

Essential: A Master’s degree in Strategic Management, Organisational Development, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Data Science, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
Essential: A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
Certification or training in strategy development, innovation management, or performance management is an added advantage.
Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., Strategic Management Society, PMI, AAPM) is a plus.
At least 10 years of progressive experience in strategic planning, organisation development, restructuring, corporate performance, innovation, or institutional development. At least 5 years must be in a senior leadership role, preferably in a multilateral development bank, financial institution, or development organization.
Demonstrated experience in leading strategy formulation, organisation restructuring, innovation initiatives, and managing cross-functional teams.
Experience of leading restructuring processes for a development bank or a commercial bank.
