Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Laundry Officer to manage laundry services and ensure the consistent supply of clean linens and uniforms at Uganda Heart Institute (UHI). The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, supporting the overall patient care experience.

An opportunity has arisen for a Laundry Officer at Uganda Heart Institute (UHI).

Working within a supportive team, the post-holder will be expected to plan and prioritise their own workload, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and maintain high standards in every task. Previous experience in a comparable position is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily laundry operations, including collection, cleaning, and distribution of linens and uniforms
Ensure timely availability of clean and well-maintained supplies for hospital use
Supervise laundry staff and maintain inventory of laundry materials
Implement and enforce hygiene and safety standards in the laundry department
Coordinate with other departments to meet their linen and uniform requirements
Maintain records of laundry activities and report any issues to management

Qualifications

Proven experience in laundry management or a similar role
Knowledge of laundry equipment, detergents, and cleaning procedures
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting
