Job Description

Nakaseke District Service Commission is seeking to recruit qualified candidates for the position of Medical Officer (Salary Scale U4 Med-1). The incumbent will deliver clinical care, conduct medical examinations, perform surgical procedures within competence, and support public health interventions across health facilities in Nakaseke District.

Most of the week is spent on the core duties of the post, with regular check-ins with colleagues from other departments. You should be able to plan your own time and finish work without being chased.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, treat, and manage medical and surgical conditions for in-patients and out-patients.
Conduct emergency medical interventions and manage acute patient cases.
Perform routine ward rounds and oversee patient management plans.
Supervise health center clinical staff and enforce compliance with standard treatment guidelines.
Participate in disease surveillance, community health programs, and outbreak response activities.
Maintain complete medical records and prepare administrative reports.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
Valid annual practising licence.
Familiarity with Uganda Health Service Commission guidelines and Local Government structures.
