Job Description

We are seeking experienced Planning Engineers to join our team in Uganda, focusing on Offsets & EPC projects in the Oil & Gas and Infrastructure sectors. The role involves developing and maintaining project schedules, ensuring progress control, and providing detailed reporting to support project management.

An opportunity has arisen for a Planning Engineers (Offsets & EPC) at True North Africa based in Site.

Working within a supportive team, the post-holder will be expected to plan and prioritise their own workload, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and maintain high standards in every task. Previous experience in a comparable position is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Adopt and demonstrate exemplary behaviour with regard to HSE, and implement and control HSE rules and requirements within their area of responsibility.
Develop, implement and maintain procedures, means and tools to ensure the efficient organisation and operation of the scheduling, progress control and reporting activities.
Define (and update as necessary) a suitable Work Breakdown Structure complying with Project needs in terms of progress control, cost control and reporting, for all phases of the Project.
Liaise with Cost Controllers to ensure consistency of information.
Develop, update and revise the overall Package schedules as required by Package Management, and provide analyses and simulations of new schedules as required.
Assist Package Management to review and comment on contractors' procedures and schedules, scheduling and progress control methodology; monitor contractors' execution schedules; and check and approve contractors' progress measurement and progress reports.
Analyse and perform 'what-if' simulations and propose corrective actions when Project milestones are threatened.
Consolidate Ugandan content man-hours from the package.
Define (and update as necessary) a suitable Monthly Report structure complying with Concessionaire/Partners and Project needs.
Perform the reporting activities as informed and directed by the EPC Project Controls Leader.
Develop the Project Monthly Report / Project Weekly Report (and any other report as requested) during all phases of the Project, as directed by the Services Leader.
Generally, support Package and Construction Management on all matters related to scheduling, progress reporting and general reporting, and manage all activities related to scheduling and reporting (as directed).
Report in a timely manner to the Project Control Leader and the Lead Planner, highlighting progress and areas of concern.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or equivalent in an Engineering discipline or Construction Technology area.
Minimum 10 years' experience in projects, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in planning of projects in Oil & Gas and/or Infrastructure related industries.
Extensive knowledge of MS Excel, MS Project and Primavera.
Well-developed analytical and reporting skills.
Able to coordinate and work with other teams, with basic multi-disciplinary knowledge.
Able to work on their own initiative and proactively interact with discipline teams to obtain information.
Able to react quickly and decisively to constantly changing demands and circumstances, and to identify, analyse and solve problems within the scope of the role.
Ability and willingness to effectively and robustly challenge the views of contractors and internal contacts.
