Job Description

Nakaseke District Service Commission is recruiting a Senior Medical Officer to work in public health facilities across Nakaseke District. This full-time post on Scale U3 Med-1 involves running clinical operations in government health centres, leading patient care teams, and managing daily clinical services.

On a regular shift, you will conduct ward rounds, handle complex medical emergencies, and perform basic surgical procedures. Daily work includes managing outpatient clinics, reviewing treatment charts, and supervising clinical officers, nurses, and midwives. You will also coordinate disease surveillance, prepare clinical reports, handle patient referrals to regional referral hospitals, and participate in facility audit meetings.

This role suits a medical doctor holding a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree or an equivalent qualification. A candidate with a valid practicing license from the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council and some clinical experience in a hospital or Health Centre IV setting fits this post well.

Working in Nakaseke means serving local communities directly through the Ugandan public health system. The position suits a practitioner who collaborates easily with district health officers, manages heavy patient workloads calmly, and maintains accurate health records according to Ministry of Health standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide clinical care, diagnosis, and treatment to patients at the health facility.

Ensure compliance with national health guidelines, medical ethics, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in disease surveillance, epidemic control, and community health interventions.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
Valid practicing license.
At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Officer in a recognized health facility.
