Job Description

StartHub is seeking a qualified Sourcing & Aggregation Officer to lead agricultural procurement and produce aggregation operations in Bukoto, Kampala. The successful candidate will coordinate with local farming communities, outgrower networks, and suppliers to secure quality agricultural commodities including grains, beans, and nuts.

In this role, you will manage field sourcing activities, establish direct relationships with producers, monitor quality standards at aggregation points, and streamline logistics to maintain a steady produce pipeline. You will be instrumental in optimizing post-harvest handling, reducing supply chain loss, and managing produce movement from primary farm gates to distribution hubs.

Most of the week is spent on the core duties of the post, with regular check-ins with colleagues from other departments. You should be able to plan your own time and finish work without being chased.

Key Responsibilities

Source high-quality agricultural produce including grains, beans, and nuts directly from farmers and supplier groups.
Establish and maintain reliable networks of smallholder farmers, local aggregators, and rural cooperatives.
Supervise post-harvest handling, quality testing, and grading processes at field collection centers.
Coordinate transport and field logistics to move produce safely to central facilities.
Track local market prices and manage produce aggregation budgets effectively.
Maintain accurate records of procurement volumes, supplier transactions, and inventory levels.

Qualifications

At least 3 years’ experience sourcing or aggregating agricultural produce, such as grains, beans, and nuts.
Practical knowledge of agricultural supply chains, quality assessment for grains, and local rural trading networks.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills when dealing with local farming communities.
Ability to manage logistics and collection point operations under field conditions.
