Job Description

Provide strategic technical leadership, advice, and support across program design, implementation, and learning in Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation, and Landscape Restoration. Work within CRS program quality principles, donor guidelines, and industry best practices to develop and scale innovative programming that advances resilience and sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable communities in Uganda.

An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Advisor II - Climate Change & Landscape Restoration at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) based in Kampala.

Working within a supportive team, the post-holder will be expected to plan and prioritise their own workload, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and maintain high standards in every task. Previous experience in a comparable position is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to CRS Uganda's strategies, standards, and tools for Climate Change and Landscape Restoration, ensuring cross-sectoral integration.
Provide technical solutions for program design, implementation, and monitoring, supporting adaptive management and evidence-based programming.
Lead technical efforts to grow CRS Uganda's Climate Change and Landscape Restoration portfolio, identifying opportunities and shaping innovative programming approaches.
Design and oversee strategic initiatives that generate evidence, demonstrate impact, and inform future programming.
Contribute to technical communications and thought leadership by developing success stories, case studies, and publications.
Strengthen staff and partner capacity through training, mentoring, and knowledge management initiatives.
Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to promote CRS' work and identify collaboration opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Climate Change, Forestry, Agroforestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Environmental Management, Agriculture, or related field.
Minimum 8 years of relevant international experience in an advisory or management role, with 3+ years in climate change and/or landscape restoration programming.
Experience in business development, project design, and successful proposal writing for external donor funding.
Proficiency in MS Office, web conferencing, and information management systems.
Experience in mentoring, coaching, and training using adult learning principles.
Strong relationship management, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
