The Supervisors Cane Yard plays a critical role in overseeing and managing daily cane yard operations to ensure a continuous, efficient supply of quality sugarcane to the factory processing unit. This position is responsible for coordinating cane offloading, monitoring weighbridge movements, supervising yard staff, and maintaining strict safety and quality assurance standards throughout the cane handling process.

Working in a fast-paced agricultural and manufacturing environment in Masindi, the successful candidate will streamline logistics, minimize operational bottlenecks, reduce vehicle turnaround times, and ensure accurate record-keeping for incoming sugarcane deliveries. Success in this role requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to operational efficiency and safety.

We are currently recruiting a Supervisors Cane Yard based in Plot 31, Block 9 & 10, Bujenje, Masindi to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities, work closely with colleagues across departments, and contribute to the continued success of the organisation. Key Responsibilities

Supervise daily operations within the cane yard, including sugarcane offloading, stacking, and feeding into the factory mill.
Coordinate with transport drivers, weighbridge operators, and field supervisors to maintain an orderly traffic flow and minimize vehicle waiting times.
Monitor sugarcane quality upon arrival, ensuring adherence to established standards and reporting any discrepancies or substandard cane promptly.
Enforce strict occupational health and safety (OHS) compliance, environmental regulations, and company safety protocols across the cane yard.
Lead, direct, and schedule shift personnel and equipment operators, ensuring optimal labor productivity and equipment utilization.
Maintain detailed operational logs, shift reports, and inventory records regarding cane tonnage received, processed, and held in reserve.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to report machinery breakdowns and ensure preventive maintenance of yard equipment is conducted efficiently.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Higher Diploma in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 1 year of relevant practical experience in cane yard supervision, agricultural logistics, inventory control, or industrial yard management.
Demonstrated team leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage shift workers in a high-volume industrial setting.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making capabilities under tight operational schedules.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays during the crushing season.
