Job Description

The role focuses on proactively managing borrowing accounts showing early signs of deterioration and non-performing accounts. The goal is to turn these accounts around and minimize financial loss to the institution.

We are currently recruiting a Recovery Support Officer (Several Positions) at UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) based in Kampala, Uganda to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities, work closely with colleagues across departments, and contribute to the continued success of the organisation. This role suits someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Arrears Management: Issue daily arrears notices and follow up with clients who have not settled their monthly obligations.
Repayment Plans: Discuss debt repayment plans with defaulting clients and recommend accounts for restructuring to management.
Customer Support: Respond to queries regarding loan balances and ensure client files are up-to-date with relevant communications.
Collateral & Compliance: Check for security perfection on non-performing accounts, forward to the legal department for foreclosure, and process the release of securities for paid-off loans.
Portfolio Quality: Conduct daily monitoring of delinquent accounts to determine which customers to contact for collection of overdue accounts.

Qualifications

Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Business Administration, or equivalent.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in debt recovery, or as a credit officer, or in credit administration.
Added Advantage: Past experience working in a call centre from a Financial Institution.
